His 8 years Adogis (now incorporated in Tensing) career as a founding director has spanned sales, marketing, new business development, and general management. He started Adogis in Amsterdam in spring 1994. In 1996 he engaged personnel. By the end of 1998 Adogis had become a healthy and highly profitable IT company. Moreover Adogis bv (and spin offs Gis Geo and Adogis North East) was a highly innovative GIS business with capabilities to expand. In spring 1999 Van Cann sold the firm to Royal Wegener NV, the Dutch-based media and marketing group with a quotation at Damrak stock exchange. He was named business unit manager Adogis and added to the board of Wegener Suurland Falkplan bv.
Van Cann led a team that is responsible for all aspects of Wegener Adogis external business and internal matters. He was the founding director of Adogis bv, Gis Geo bv and Intragis bv. Van Cann moved through positions of increasing responsibility. Merely as a result of his successfull and fast growing company.
By a partial management buy-out Van Cann split off Adogis from Suurland Falkplan in 2000. He sold the firm again in 2001 to Tensing SKS in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands. He joined the alliance until late 2001.
Van Cann wrote numerous publications, mainly in the leading professional journal on GIS in the Netherlands.
Now Intragis bv, his holding, is working closely together with 2knowit bv. Van Cann spearheads the joint real estate operation in 2value bv to become a specialised 'open source professionals' company focussed on implementations of websystems and service these systems for customers during the product life cylce.
His webconcepts are based on the growing economic value of Open Source software. Van Cann is involved as a chaiman in Stichting POST and in the Joomla! project and works closely together with Stichting Holland Open (organising the Holland Open conference)
Van Cann operates from Heemstede where he is director/owner of 2value bv. He graduated from Larenstein in Velp, the Netherlands with a Bachelors degree in water & soil management. From the University of Amsterdam he graduated with a Masters degree in management & computer science.
Van Cann resides in Heemstede as well with his wife and daughter.
